Traumas, Tribulations, Travels and Tomfoolery Down Under

I find it weird anyway...

I am back in the Western world which means I can go to see a good movie any night of the week, eat stuff without fear of some unrecongnisable matter being hidden inside of it, and not fear the wrath of the neighbourhood if I don't seperate my rubbish HOWEVER there are little oddities about this place down under that definitely mark it out from good old Blighty...

~People walk around without shoes. Without flip flops either, i'm talking skin to pavement action. And this isn't just hippie types, a lot of people do it and apparently its not weird. This is do-able because its clean here I spose, back home you'd stand on glass/vomit/rusty nails.

~ People say "how are you going?" here instead of how are you. This doesnt make any sense to me. How am i going where? By hovercraft?

~Australian "football" is the most ridiculous game I have ever watched with the exception of Japanese sports days. Its like an combination of every other game you could possibly think of with a bit of violence and silly hopping thrown in. whats the score? twelfty to three thousand.

~People have a lot of time to talk to you in shops. Especially in the country. Not just five minutes. More like a week.

~On most backpacker nights out you're lucky not to pull.

~A lot of the backpackers are Irish and talk like Spiral off Big Brother.

~An alarming number of small children seem to have corkscrew curly blonde hair

~An alarming number of immigrants seem to cling on to their strong accents as if for dear life despite being here since childhood. That or they have exaggerated horrible aussie accents.

I mean its not as wacky as Sea Slugs for your lunch and Hello Kitty sausages but this place defintely has its quirks...

This morning one of the residents of the old folks place i'm working at smeared toothpaste all over her face thinking it was foundation

Although thats not a quirk of being Australian, thats just being a old mentalist.
